Yesterday and today were big days for Gabe. Days that make me so proud. Days that I just know he has been so excited for. His first experience with being...grounded! Anyone that has ever spent any time in my presence with my children will know that this did not go over well. I told Gabe to do something and he looked me right in the eye and said "no." Funny thing is that he had been having such a great week that he had already lost his TV, DVDs, half of his toys (we had left him the toys he doesn't normally play with so that he wouldn't start climbing the walls), and almost lost his mattress because of the fit that he threw that might have ended up ripping holes in said mattress. Basically now the child has nothing left in his room but clothes, bed, a chair, his desks, and whatever was on his bed (stuffed animals and pillows). The closet in our room is now a bit tighter than normal to get into. I always wanted a TV in my closet! The past couple days have been bad for him. He got grounded for two separate times of telling me no! I really don't know what has gotten into him. But if he wants to be defiant.... BRING IT ON!!!! I am still bigger than him....
And my precious baby girl (who I KNOW will never EVER be grounded) has reached a new level. She has had a yeast infection for a week now so since the ointment doesn't seem to be doing much to make it go away, we've resorted to going diaperless as much as possible. We learned during this endeavor that she IS aware of when she needs to go potty. She would find a diaper, bring it to us, and even sometimes sit down at our feet. We aren't as quick on the uptake as I would like to tell you as it took Tony and I both the better part of a full day of this for us to realize what was going on. So tonight (after day two of diaperless baby) we ran to Target and got her a potty chair. I didn't really figure that she'd use it but thought that it couldn't hurt to introduce it and the idea. She loved it. Spent a hour or more playing with it. Sitting, standing, tripping over, sticking toys in, removing the lid, taking the seat off and playing with the cup inside, etc... While she was playing I was sitting on the floor cutting up scraps of fabric for Kai's new bed. Little missy was taking off with my scraps and stuffing them in the potty. When we went to retrieve the scraps...they were wet!!! With the cloth diapers, Hope has associated cloth with going potty and therefore thought she should make sure the potty was stuffed before going. Brilliant little one! Now of course she isn't even 18 months yet and did have a couple accidents during the evening but she did go again in the potty before we put her to bed. I'm so proud of her. Now soon she'll be teaching Gabe how to do it and I won't have to save coupons for pull-ups anymore....
